Plan for propane at peak season

From drought to floods to unusually warm temperatures in winter, the one thing you can guarantee is that the weather in Canada is inconsistent. What Mother Nature decides to throw our way can easily sway the success of your operation. Cold and wet fall conditions also dictate demand for propane, as farmers work to get crops off earlier and must dry them longer.

“Leading up to harvest, the role that weather plays is crucial. Over the past few years, heavy rainfall has had a direct effect on the propane industry, increasing the demand to unprecedented levels and challenging suppliers to meet farmers’ needs,” said Keith Morin, Director of Propane at Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). “As a result, Co-op has made a concerted effort to build our resources and delivery capacity to help handle the increased demand experienced during a wet harvest and provide propane deliveries to our farmers in a more timely fashion”.

Since the weather is outside of our control, the Co-op Fuel Team works closely with farmers to ensure we can provide the advice they need before peak season.

The Co-op Fuel Team

Any farmer can tell you that longstanding relationships with trusted suppliers are vital to improving efficiencies. The Co-op Fuel Team is made up of experts that have been delivering to their members for years. They understand the areas they serve and can provide a personal touch, 24-7. They understand farmers’ needs and work hard to meet them.

“Whether we’re setting up farmers with propane for their grain dryers or to heat their homes, Co-op always makes sure that the needs of the customer come first,” said Matt Klassen, FCL’s Manager, Propane Operations. “We work closely with members from start to finish, including getting them started with a Co-op account, providing full-service installation and consistent customer care.”

The experts on the Co-op Fuel Team have years of experience and technical training, which means the right person is always available to answer your questions or provide advice.

“We keep a close tab on our members during the months leading up to harvest,” said Klassen. “Whether it’s a phone call to remind farmers when it’s time to fill their tanks or to make sure their tanks are up to code, a trained professional is always ready to help.”

Peak season planning doesn’t have to be an overwhelming activity. Your Co-op Fuel Team member has seen and understands the challenges that farmers face every year and knows how to beat the rush and downtime caused by waiting for product. Whether you need financing, delivery or tank options, Co-op has you covered. For more information about how you can incorporate propane into your operations, contact the Propane Team in your area.
